Title: Replicant
Year Released: 2001
Rating: R
Running Time: 100 minutes
Starring: Jean-Claude Van Damme, Michael Rooker
Overview: A killer has been plaguing the city by killing mothers in fires. Just when the cop who was tracking him thinks he's retiring, he's put in charge of the killer's genetic clone, which could be their one way to stop the fiend.
Date Watched: Saturday, December 22nd, 2001
My Opinion: Okay, first off... I love Jean-Claude. Not only does he have a cool name, he's hotter than Sly Stallone. (Ooh, tough one there, really.) Anyway, I thought "Ooh, a movie with two Jean-Claudes? Van Damme (ooh, pun!) that sounds exciting!" Well, it's not. It's kind of dumb, really. I understand the cloning... kind of. It's dumb, but dumb people do dumb things in times of desperation. Anyway, why can't the clone run around in leather pants or something? Nope, sweats and stuff. (I got to say the evil Van Damme is nice looking in the long hair and yellow glasses.) The catch phrase of the movie is: "Think twice before you clone a killer." Yes, do think twice. Save us from the stupidity! Oh, and another thing -- why was the clone all stupid for the ENTIRE movie, then was suddenly full of clarity at the end? Dumbass clone!

Title: Rush Hour 2
Year Released: 2001
Rating: PG-13
Running Time: 91 minutes
Starring: Jackie Chan, Chris Tucker
Overview: A sequel to the surprisingly funny "Rush Hour," where two incredibly different people (a large and loud from Los Angeles and a quiet and quick from Hong Kong) are paired up to solve some sort of case. This case they must deal with the Triads, a notoriously evil Hong Kong gang, who just bombed the American Embassy in China.
Date Watched: Saturday, December 15th, 2001
My Opinion: I was shocked to find the first "Rush Hour" to be so funny, but Jackie and Chris match up to be an odd couple of sorts. Zhang Ziyi ("Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon") was dark and cruel as usual as Hu Li, evil empress of the Triads. I don't know... just funny, mindless comedy and action from an unlikely duo. Just a nice movie to relax to... not to mention some hilarious outtakes with both Jackie and Chris screwing up.
