Title: Ghost World
Year Released: 2001
Rating: R
Running Time: 111 minutes
Starring: Thora Birch, Scarlett Johansson, Steve Buscemi, Brad Renfro, Illeana Douglas
Overview: Based on the comic book. Two best friends graduate from high school and slowly drift apart as Enid develops a relationship with a man they play a joke on.
Date Watched: Saturday, February 16th, 2002
My Opinion: At the beginning of this movie, it reminded me of M and myself, which was neat. Yeah, go M and myself! While this film has its absolutely absurd moments, for the most part, it's really good. I don't know... it was just different from the norm and really showed a post-high school relationship between Enid and Rebecca. Uh... the ending was completely good, too, so... I don't know, it was just a good movie. That's all.
Final Rating: 7.5 Stars

Title: Ginger Snaps
Year Released: 2001
Rating: R
Running Time: 109 minutes
Starring: Emily Perkins, Katharine Isabelle
Overview: Two morbid sisters, Ginger and Brigitte, are horribly out of place in the perfect terms of Hell: suburbia. A strange creature has been lurking around, killing dogs and now has gotten Ginger. When Ginger goes through some radical changes, how is her best friend and loyal sister going to help her?
Date Watched: Thursday, November 22nd, 2001
My Opinion: I won't lie to you. Gory werewolf-ish film. It tries and it tries and it tries, but it just can't squeeze anything out of the toothpate tube. All I can really say for it is that the drug-dealer guy goes above and beyond (which makes it unbelievable) and that I still hate suburbia and snobs. (Oh, plus the title is kind of funny. I mean, that's why I rented it in the first place. It had a great hook on the trailer: "Ginger Snaps... and bites." That was about the best part of anything even slightly related to the movie.) The girl who plays Ginger is quite creepy. (Good for her, I guess...?) The movies oversteps bounds of stupidity no matter where it turns. At some points, you can't tell if it's a coming of age movie or a werewolf flick. I mean, what really is going on here? Bad movies are just getting confusing now. The only good out of this movie are the wicked photo shoots the girls stage. (No, really, they are totally wicked. They set up mock deaths... which helps them out when Ginger starts slaughtering people. It was perfect that they had complete idiot suburb parents. "Why are there fingers and blood in the backyard?" "Oh, girls will be girls!") It's inconsistent, tedious, and goes nowhere. In fact, the best part of the movie is the ending... no, I'm not saying the ending is good. I'm saying that you're so happy the movie is over... well, you get my point. If werewolves are real, then the makers of this have obviously stepped in a big, steaming pile of its... the end.

Title: The Glass House
Year Released: 2001
Rating: PG-13
Running Time: 111 minutes
Starring: Leelee Sobieski, Diane Lane, Stellan Skarsgard, Trevor Morgan
Overview: When Ruby's parents die in a car accident, she and her brother Rhett are forced to live with two new parents. However, these new parents aren't quite normal and the car accident begins to look less and less like an accident.
Date Watched: Saturday, February 16th, 2002
My Opinion: I'm not big on 'scary' movies, really, but this was actually pretty good. First off, it had Leelee -- ahh, my twin, babe, how are you? -- which is always good. Watch her, she's smoking. I don't know... it had some dumb moments, but what movie doesn't, really? Overall, good plot, but the ending was a tad predictable.
Final Rating: 6 Stars
